The gift

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart.” — Jesus

(John 14:27)

We usually give gifts to each other on special occasions like anniversaries, weddings, and birthdays. Jesus has a gift to give to each of us as well -- peace of mind and heart. Jesus' gift never wears out, never goes out of style, and never breaks. In this special sermon series we focus on God’s spiritual gift of peace and its impact on our mind and heart. We will pray for this gift and be encouraged to access it, especially when we feel anxious and afraid. Join us each Sunday at 10:00 AM on our Facebook page for a live, interactive sermon and prayer time.

Sunday, March 22 - "Why are you afraid?" (Mark 4:35-41)

Tips for successful Bible reading!

  • Set a time and place where you will do your reading and try to stick to that schedule.

  • If you miss a day, then continue from where you left off.  Don’t worry about what you missed.  Go back to those readings on a day when you are not as busy or on a Sunday. Most people allow catching up to be an obstacle to just getting back on track.

  • Some might see this as a challenge to fulfill, but also remember these are sacred words that will impact your soul when you read and listen to them.

  • Practice Lectio divina, which is a contemplative way to read short passages of scripture.

  • With the first reading, listen with your heart’s ear for a phrase or word that stands out for you.

  • During the second reading, reflect on what touches you, perhaps speaking that response aloud or writing in a journal.

  • After reading the passage a third time, respond with a prayer or expression of what you have experienced and what it calls you to.

  • Finally, rest in silence after a fourth reading.
