Living Grace Lutheran Church - Omaha Nebraska

who we are

About the Pastor • James Lindberg

I have been ordained as a Lutheran pastor for 10 years and graduated from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1998. My early years of ministry were spent serving large congregations in Lakeville, Minnesota and Tempe, Arizona. I came to Nebraska in 2003 to serve First Lutheran Church in Avoca. In 2007, I received a call from Rejoice! Lutheran Church and the Nebraska Synod to develop a new congregation in the growing suburbs of West Omaha. I am currently the pastor developer of Living Grace and live in Omaha with my wife Lori and three children — Noah, Sarah, and Rachel.

I have a passion for finding ways of making the words of the Bible connect with people’s lives by applying its ancient truths to modern life. I enjoys finding stories, movie clips, artwork and other means to help people better understand what God is saying through the scriptures. I am also thankful for the committed and talented people God has sent, and will continue to send, to lead and serve Living Grace.

Living Grace gives me the exciting opportunity to help mold and shape — with the guidance of the Holy Spirit and others — a healthy, fun, vibrant and active congregation. I am also excited at the abundance mentality of its leaders who continue to develop, implement and lead Living Grace’s wonderful events and ministries. I look forward to seeing the continued growth of Living Grace Lutheran Church.

Joy Augustine • Worship Leader

I am so honored to serve as the Worship Leader for Living Grace Lutheran Church. Music and Worship go hand in hand and there are thousands of accounts of music in worship throughout the Bible. I am so blessed to share my gift of music from God with all of you. Psalm 89:1 says, “I will sing of the Lords great love forever; with my mouth I will make Your faithfulness known through all generations.” That is something I am so excited to do with the Living Grace family. “Make a joyful noise to the Lord all the earth!” (Psalm 100:1)

I was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. In 2004, I graduated from Millard South High School and continued my education at Dana College in Blair, Nebraska. There I received a B.A. in Vocal Music Education in May of 2008. Since then, I have been working as the Vocal Music Director at Mercy High School in Omaha. I teach 9th-12th grade girls, and love every minute of it. Each year I get to direct a musical, take our show choir to competitions, expand the knowledge and love of music throughout the school, and lead Mass and prayer services on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.

I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you, and praising God with you every Sunday morning!

Angie Roberts • The Director of Children's Ministry

I believe that God has always had a plan for me and has prepared me well for Directing the Children’s Ministry at Living Grace Lutheran Church. I have felt called to serve God throughout my life by working with children and reaching out to those in need. In 1993, I graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology. For the following eight years, I was employed in Social Services working solely with children and families in crisis. In 2001, I chose to change my career and started an In-Home Child Care Business. This allowed me to stay at home with our children and also fulfilled my desire to work with young people. Because of my heartfelt calling to work with children and to share God’s Word, I feel blessed to be actively involved in the Children’s Ministry Program at Living Grace Lutheran Church.

My husband, Dan, and I have three young children, Emma, Will and Jack. We are very excited to have found a church home where we enjoy the worship style, the message, and the fellowship. The children’s program, Grace Place, is a fun atmosphere filled with music, crafts, games, and scripture. I am also very fortunate to be supported by a wonderful team of volunteer teachers and guides. The children in Grace Place are learning the message of God’s love in a fun and exciting environment surrounded by teachers who are passionate about children and God.

It is my hope that our children will have a relationship with Christ and live their lives according to His teachings. As Director of Children’s Ministry, I look forward to watching our children grow in Christ and the continued growth of our Church.

Katy Nilsson • Director of Connections

Katy Nilsson

I am so excited to be able to help grow Living Grace Lutheran Church as it has become home to me and my family. I look forward to introducing the church and its mission to new members, actively engaging current members and supporting God’s plan. I am a firm believer that active membership will lead to great things and I know that Living Grace has a bright future in our community. Through various activities, events, and educational endeavors, I hope to relate Living Grace and the word of God to the current lives of our members.

I was born in Omaha and graduated from Central High School followed by the University of Nebraska at Omaha. My husband and I have four wonderful children, Ella, Jack, Cecilia, and Sophia. Growing up in a traditional church, we were looking for a church that was social, emphasized active participation and provided daily guidance on how to grow ourselves spiritually and encouraged living life in a positive way. We are lucky to have found a place where our children enjoy going to church as much as we do!

Whether it is attending various events, assisting with worship items, or sharing individual strengths, I hope to get to know each member of the church and encourage active participation to help develop the ministry of Living Grace. By utilizing member gifts, we can enjoy our growing church and the “Living Grace Way” ministry model.
