When Jesus picks Simon Peter to be his follower, he choses someone who is certainly not the picture of perfection. In the Bible, Peter is known for being rash, impulsive, big mouthed, closed minded and being fickle in his faith. But Peter also boldly steps out in faith, performs miracles, tells others about Jesus, and becomes a great leader in the early church. In many ways, Peter is a picture of you and me. We sometimes find ourselves boldly following God and experiencing the blessings of faith, but there are times when we fail and fall.
